That’s right. The guy who changed my life, when I read his “No B.S. Direct Marketing: The Ultimate No Holds Barred Kick Butt Take No Prisoners Direct Marketing for Non-Direct Marketing Businesses,” asked little old me to write a book with him.

- Include CLEAR instructions on EXACTLY what you want your prospects to do. You want them to click over to your website? Include “click here” in your post text. Want them to comment or reply? Ask them a question and tell them you want them to share their thoughts. Clearly telling your audience what you want them to do will increase your response rate 5x over.
- Measure EVERYTHING. Time is money and both should be measured in social media. Use tracking links built into your marketing system software or if you don’t have that, create unique track-able links through a service like Bitly. Know exactly what is coming from each post and each ad so you can optimize your strategies and time and money invested.
- Match message, market and media. Meaning, recognize social media is just that, social, and your posts need to seem conversational. They should also be geared toward your target market and about things only they care about. Make your market believe you are speaking directly to them and no one else and see your results improve.
