I sat there shaking, as I handed him the ring.
“Thirteen hundred,” I said.
Like the naïve person I was (and still often am), I answered the question he asked, instead of the one I should have answered. I should have said something closer to what the ring was worth. I should have asked for more.
But he had me. He knew I was in dire straights and I needed money to make payroll the next day and I was going to hand over that $10,000 ring if I could just fix things right now. So that is exactly what I did. I gave up the last possession that I had to make sure my employees got paid.
I was a failure and felt like a fraud and a fake. Who was I to walk into one more meeting with one more client and even pretend to know what it was like to be successful? I couldn’t even make sales work without hawking my possessions.
It wasn’t like I didn’t work hard. I worked all of the time but was completely broke. And there are a lot more fun ways to be broke than working all of the time. I dumbly thought that if I could just work harder I would finally be successful. I could stop wishing at night that the next day something would change. I could stop worrying about what shoe would drop next.
The thing was, I had this feeling that wouldn’t go away. A feeling like I was meant to be working with people and helping them achieve their purpose. I felt a lightness whenever I got to do it, and I didn’t think that was an accident. I was certain (most of the time) that I was given a gift of seeing through their blockages and helping others break through to their purpose and beyond.
I just needed a way for things to change, because I couldn’t keep carrying on like this any longer. I couldn’t keep torturing myself in between a place of pain and purpose. So many times I thought about just going and getting a job. I even applied for several. (I never heard from those positions, thankfully.)
What I wouldn’t find out for several years from when I hocked my ring was that it wasn’t about me working harder. It was actually about me working a lot less. A few years later I would finally discover a system that would provide predictable growth. One that would drive people to my website and produce clients on demand. One that would prevent me from being scared about what happened next because I didn’t have to worry anymore. One that allowed me to grow into what we have today—a multi-million dollar agency.
But the best part? The working system validates that feeling I had in my soul when I was struggling… my “feeling” was not an accident. I was meant to thrive. I was meant to live with passion, purpose, and profits.
And so are you.
There is a reason you are reading this right now. It is not an accident. It is not by happenstance. You are supposed to feel a pull inside and feel your arms tingle. It’s okay. This is supposed to happen. You may have struggled and felt frustrated and doubted things. This is normal, but this is not your forever. Your forever is to find the missing puzzle pieces which, once in place, help to make it all make sense. Your forever is to find the ignition switch in your machine of victory.
Your forever starts now.
Look up. See where you are right now. Notice the light. Notice the smell. Notice any sounds. Remember this moment, forever.
This was the moment you claimed more, and asked for more. This is when you made a commitment that you were created to thrive and that you deserve more than to struggle. You deserve to blossom and grow and successfully deliver your purpose with power. There are people waiting right now to hear from you. Don’t leave them waiting.
Over the next few weeks I will break down what the system was that I discovered, how it helped me, and how you can copy and paste it into your own success formula. (To jumpstart your success, join me for a free training here.) And starting today, I want you to commit that you aren’t going to waste your time working harder on things that aren’t working. You aren’t going to doubt your calling. You are going to demand more. You are going to own that you were made to thrive.
Everyday, as you sip your morning cup of coffee, say to yourself at least once: “My purpose has power, and if something isn’t going to get me results, I’m not going to do it.” Try it right now, one time.
And if you are in, add your name to the comments saying, “I’m in!”
And then join me for a free workshop where I will show you how to launch your own predictable revenue system into your business.
